IKEA no longer sells EKTORP sofas or covers in the U.S. You can still buy an original cover secondhand or order a new model-specific cover, but first confirm that your sofa is EKTORP rather than UPPLAND and identify the exact configuration.
You search IKEA for EKTORP and find that the range is gone. Then you try Amazon, where some listings say “EKTORP only” and others warn “Does not fit UPPLAND.” If you bought the sofa years ago, or inherited it, you may not even remember which of the two is sitting in your living room.
Settle that first. The two covers do not interchange, and nothing else you decide matters until you know which sofa and configuration you own.
EKTORP or UPPLAND? The measurements settle it
UPPLAND replaced EKTORP in U.S. stores while keeping the same broad visual language: rolled arms, loose back cushions and removable covers. From across the room they look nearly identical. Side by side, UPPLAND is taller, deeper and wider.

Why the tape photos do not always match the catalog: IKEA’s figures are published product specifications. Real sofas vary with cover tension, cushion age and how much the filling has been fluffed. Seat height is a separate measurement. In the same hands-on comparison, UPPLAND measured 18 1/4 inches at the seat and as much as 20 1/2 inches with extra cushion fluff; EKTORP measured 16 1/2 inches. That difference helps explain why UPPLAND feels taller even before you compare the backs.
A fitted cover is cut around all of these proportions. A cover made for one model will not sit correctly on the other.
What an UPPLAND cover looks like on EKTORP
To make the mismatch visible, an UPPLAND cover was fitted over an EKTORP frame and photographed. The result is not a small cosmetic difference: the body cover, seat covers and skirt all carry excess fabric.
The test ran in one direction only. In the reverse direction, an EKTORP cover pulled over the larger UPPLAND frame would come up short. Neither is a fit you would keep. If you can find the sewn-in tag, it settles the model question without a tape measure.
Why IKEA no longer sells EKTORP covers in the U.S.
IKEA discontinued EKTORP in the U.S. in fall 2020 and replaced it with UPPLAND. IKEA has never publicly explained the decision. When the sofa left the range, its cover supply eventually disappeared too.
For a while, covers outlived the frame. The three-seat Lofallet beige set remained available at $79, and older articles still send readers to it. As of October 2026, IKEA’s U.S. site returns no EKTORP products and lists the name as a retired range.
The discontinuation was regional. EKTORP has continued to appear in some European markets, which is why online advice can sound contradictory. Check the country behind any availability claim before assuming it applies to the U.S.
Which EKTORP configuration do you have?
Covers are cut to a configuration, not just a model name. EKTORP was sold in many shapes over two decades, including an armchair, loveseat, three-seat sofa, larger 3.5-seat sofa, chaise version, corner sectional and storage footstool. Older sleeper and corner versions were discontinued even earlier.
The loveseat, three-seat and 3.5-seat cause the most mistakes. Measure the overall width, keeping the cushions in place, and compare it with IKEA’s published figures:

Your two realistic cover options
An original IKEA cover is still findable secondhand, mostly on eBay. The Lofallet beige three-seat set that sold for $79 was listed between $195 and $240 in September 2026. Older colors turn up too, but availability, condition and configuration depend entirely on what somebody chooses to list.
